Easier Math Better?
³» ¿ë
On Mar. 16, the Ministry of Education announced ¡°The Second Math Education Master Plan,¡± which includes visions and goals for math education in schools for the next five years. All schools are required to follow the government¡¯s plan. The ministry has lowered the levels of difficulty and number of math class hours at schools. Students will benefit from the lowered achievement standards, in which math test questions will become relatively easier. Calculators are permitted in math classes in order to focus more on learning math concepts and principles. However, calculators still are not allowed during tests. This is to help more students experience a sense of achievement in learning math. In solving problems, the process of how students reach a conclusion will be considered as important as the correct answers.
