Have you ever read the book 'The Giver'? It is a book written by Lois Lowry, an American writer. This book is same genre with 'The Maze Runner'. We can't determine as one genre, but actually they are multi genres. The Giver's author Lois Lowry wrote many famous books and most of them received prestigious New Bery awards. Especially, the giver is one of my favorite. I will tell you about the backgrounds of the story. The main character is Jonus who is living in the society called 'Community'. Community is the world where is regulated strictly by rules and leaders. But it is not communisim but not democratic. Whatever it is, this society's original purpose was to make idealistic world. But murder and crimes exist. It is not the best that people can make. The Giver is only man or woman who can recognize everything for the future. And Jonus our main character was selected as the giver. After learning a lot, he felt 'Community' was just an illusion. And he began his journey to crash the world 'Community'. Here's are questions and answers that I made about the story. Q1. Is the world ¡®Community¡¯appropriate for the better lives among human beings? A: ¡®Community¡¯is the world that operates with very strict and thorough system. Leaders decide everything but it is different from the dictatorship. They make a great efforts to not trigger fights or aggressive situations. Although, it might seem perfect and safe, stable and peaceful, it is actually not. Terms that people in ¡®Community¡¯ use have same meanings compare to our world. So it is not a new world, but the world which just tries to avoid dangers in our society. As the matter of fact, we can truly say that the new society is suitable to live in, and have better environment for human beings to live. Q2. The task for Jonus, a boy who lives in the ¡®Community¡¯ is to be the Giver. Does the Giver really needs to exist? A: The Giver is only person who has exact memory for the historical facts. Living as the giver might seem wonderful. Though, the giver can¡¯t split out the knowledge that he or she has. Hence, it is like a job which needs a lot of patience. The Giver should acquiesce irrational social actions. No feelings, No emotions made people to do immoral things. However, they aren¡¯t permitted to speak something about that. Then the giver doesn¡¯t need to exist. Of course, there may be some occasions when they should speak for the truth, it is very rare. We can¡¯t say that it is absolutely true whether the Giver should exist in the ¡®Community¡¯. Q3. If there are some ways to adjust some failures of the first try to alter the world. A: Actually, ¡®Community¡¯ is same as us, or may be becoming more cruel than us. They call killing as replacement. Is that morally okay to imply death as replacement. We all know that human beings are not a machine or something. From that the society should change the names of many tasks to be more realistic. Furthermore, I personally think that it is inappropriate to let leaders to decide everything in people¡¯s lives. Although, there are many benefits by looking over civilians. It is kind of imprudent behaviors which do not consider people¡¯s private lives. Q4. If I am Jonus, will I go to the limit line to recover the before world? A: In the story, it criticize the world of human beings which is cruel, terrible and horrifying. But what I think is little different from what it is illustrated in the story. We can¡¯t ignore the reality that we made from very long years ago. Hence, we must find out for balance which may exist in the world. Harmony between customs and human beings is truly significant. To make harmony, there are numerous ways and what Jonus did is also the one way for alternation. If I am Jonus, I may try this as my second plan. First one is to teach people to know something. Spread of Education is very powerful and can reestablish the right world. Q5. Was the Giver wise or fool A: In this story, the Giver led Jonus to challenge for the new changes. But he didn¡¯t show his mind at first. After Jonus learn more and more, enduring hardships he had a certain that Jonus may help him to change the ¡®Community¡¯. The Giver was very acknowledged and fameful so it may be possible for him to try. But he didn¡¯t try it as he didn¡¯t have courage. I think trying to change improper society by the Giver was the wise decision. Whatever the story is, the world ¡®Community¡¯ didn¡¯t have development compare to dangerous society as ours. So the Giver¡¯s decision was correct.
