The Last Olympian
³» ¿ë
Today, I read the last book of the Percy Jackson series; 'The Last Olympian'. The book starts with Percy Jackson on a drive with Rachel Elizabeth Dare. Then, Charles Beckendorf, the son of Hephaestus, and they attack Kronos's ship, The Princess Andromeda, but Kronos had already made up his defenses because of a spy in camp, and Beeckendorf gets killed. Later, Percy awakens in his father's palace, which was under attack by the titan Oceanus. Percy wanted to help, but Poseidon sends him to Camp Half-Blood to hear the Great Prophecy. When Percy gets there, he learns that the Olympians are having a fight with Typhon. Then, he leaves with Nico de Angelo to learn the way to defeat Kronos, which is actually Luke. So they go to Luke's house, and later they talk with Hestia. Then, they get a blessing from Percy's Mother. Then, he goes to the Underworld and bathe in the Styx and gets invulnerability. Then, he goes to New York and calls the campers to fight against Kronos's army, and while they fight, the Hunters of Artemis and the Party Ponies join them, and they manage to defeat Hyperion. Then Rachel comes and tells Percy that he is not the hero and warns him about a drakon that can only be killed by a child of Ares and that there will be a trick that will end with death. Later, a drakon attacks and Clarrise defeats the drakon, but, Silena dies because she had pretended to be Clarrise and tells them that she was the spy. Then, Percy contacts his father and says that they need his help, and he agrees, and later Nico and Hades arrives, but Kronos manages to get into Olympus, but with Annabeth's help and Luke manages to get control and then he kills himself to stop Kronos , and as he dies he tells Percy to make the gods care about the unclaimed, and later Percy makes a wish about claiming the unclaimed and giving cabins to the minor gods. My favorite part in this book was when Percy deals with the two river gods. Because I liked the part when the gods were disappointed that their attacks didn't have any effect because of the 'son of Poseidon' and 'the curse of Achilles', and I wonder if this is the end of the Percy Jackson series, or if there is an other series including Percy.

The whole thing is nearly nonstop battles, with many killings and injuries of major and minor characters and bystanders by various methods (including sword, arrow, spear, gun, explosion, poison, acid, fire, claw, and tooth). Many brand names are also mentioned, and some parents may be disturbed by the vision of the afterlife presented in the book. T. May
