On May 17, children splashed and played in a water fountain tunnel at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno District. The temperature reached 31 degrees Celsius, bringing hot, summer-like weather to Seoul.

On May 17, citizens planted young rice plants together at Incheon Grand Park. Rice planting, called monaegi, is a farming tradition where small rice plants are placed in muddy fields to grow.
